Join Lango as an independent contractor and help expand language access across Maine’s diverse communities! We are looking for bilingual individuals who are passionate about supporting others and ready to use their language skills in meaningful ways.

Position Overview

Lango is seeking interpreters throughout Maine to provide in-person language support in settings such as schools, hospitals, government agencies, legal offices, and social service organizations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy flexible work and want to make a direct impact in their local community.

What You’ll Do

• Facilitate communication between English speakers and Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals
• Interpret in a variety of fields including medical, educational, legal, and community services
• Travel locally to scheduled appointments
• Occasionally support remote/video assignments as needed

Requirements

• Fluency in English and at least one additional language
• Ability to pass a language proficiency assessment (if no interpreter credentials available)
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (I-9 required)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Willingness to complete a background check and drug screening
• For medical assignments: ability to provide MMR, Varicella, TB, Flu, and COVID immunization/health records
• Primary availability for in-person appointments
• Prior interpreting experience preferred but not required
